Youlbury Activity Day Oct 11

Youlbury Activity Day October 15th 2011

All sections had a most enjoyable day at Youlbury - 'our second home'- in October. The sun shone, the leaves were begining to change colour, it was breathtaking and then at 9am the 1st Bartons Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders, Older Leaders and parents descended for the day and the tranquility was shattered!  We had an action packed day; in the morning all sections went off and took part in a booked activity on site, Beavers went off to the Adventure Playground and  Pedal Go Karts, the Cubs to the 3G swing and Zipwire and the Scouts to Jacobs ladder.  Then it was back for a quick picnic lunch before the children were split into small groups made up
of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and they had to complete various tasks around the site as a team. These included code breaking, pioneering, blind trail, building the tallest towers out of newspaper, spiders web.   The aim of the day had been to encourage all sections to work together and generally have a great day out.

The day finished with a BBQ,  marsmallow cremating and the swimming up of Ben, Matthew, Euan and Jake up to Cubs from Beavers
and Fergus moving from Cubs to Scouts, plus we welcomed Imogen another girl to join Sarah at scouts.

It was an amazing day which couldn't have happened without the support of the whole leadership team
at Bartons plus all the parents who joined us on for the day and took part in OUR BIG ADVENTURE
